Orinoco Technical Services provides technical field services, direction and supervision to the Power Generation Industry. It was founded by Mr. Niall Sheehan a former Start-Up Engineer for General Electric, with a total of twenty five years experience working around the globe on Power Generation Projects.
Mr. Sheehan has a Steam Turbine Mechanical, Controls, Vibration Analysis and Start-up background and has partners who specialize in the Electrical, Excitation and Controls in both Steam and Gas Turbine disciplines.
The aim of the company is to provide experienced, highly motivated, specialized and bi-lingual field technical support and training on power train equipment, to customers in the industry in Europe and elsewhere at competitive rates.
In addition the company intends to provide the mechanism whereby other independent professionals with a high level of experience in various disciplines such as mechanical erection and maintenance, commissioning, start-up and operation can market their services to the power generation industry in Europe and beyond.
Niall Sheehan is based in Spain and is a former General Electric start-up engineer of 25 years field experience. Niall began his career in mechanical maintenance and installation of Steam Turbines, moving on to instrumentation and controls, and added considerable vibration analysis and balancing experience during the many turbine restarts and new unit start-ups he performed during his years in the field.Using his background in mechanical assembly, alignment, instrumentation, controls and vibration analysis Niall has accumulated a data bank of knowledge and troubleshooting skills that will minimise the complexityof putting your unit safely back on line.
Mr. Sheehan has vast experience in all generations of Steam Turbine Controls be they Mechanical Hydraulic Controls, three arm extraction controls, MDT 20 and MDT 80, Woodward Mechanical and Electronic Governors, GE MK II and III analogue Controls or MK V Digital controls. He is also very experienced in setting up and using the various Turbine Supervisory systems be they GE or Bently Nevada.
His experience includes troubleshooting and maintenance of Turbine Generator auxiliary systems such as the Hydrogen Seal Oil System, Stator Cooling System, Electro Hydraulic Control System and Lube Oil Systems. In addition he is more than competent to supervise turbine dis-assembly, re-assembly and perform steam Path audit and realignment activities.
Mr Sheehan has successfully performed vibration analysis field balancing on Steam and Gas Turbine Generators in Canada, Columbia, Spain, Italy and Israel including several nuclear units.
In recent years Mr. Sheehan has been involved as both Start-up Engineer and Lead Technical Director at numerous Combined Cycle Plants around Europe and can provide valuable consulting services to assist customers in the timely and cost effective completion of such projects.
Mr Sheehan is fluent in Spanish and English and has a working knowledge of Italian and French.
